Guy O'Connor
Guy Tuterangiwhiu O`Connor is a leading New Zealand bone carver and the most prolific whale bone artist. His Marae is O Hine Waiapu, located at the mouth of the sacred Waiapu river on the East Cape of New Zealand. Guy has been carving for a living since the mid 1980s and has carved over 4,500 pieces from the jaw bones of 60 stranded sperm whales. He also carves pendants from beef bone, wood and pounamu.
