Baby Lamb New Zealand is a division of Takamatua Exports Ltd, wool exporters based on Banks Peninsula. Mike and Pip, the owners, have many years of experience in the wool trade. Their Baby Lamb line of clothing is handmade in Christchurch from New Zealand superfine merino wool.

Baby Lamb's merino woollen fabric adjusts to a baby's body temperature maintaining an optimum level of comfort. With an absorbtion capacity similar to skin itself, merino fibre can buffer a baby against sudden atmospheric changes. The interior cells of merino fibre are water-seeking, preventing claminess by drawing moisture away from a baby's skin and absorbing it into the fibre. A Baby Lamb natural merino garment is capable of holding up to one third of its weight in moisture without actually feeling wet yet the outer structure of the fibre will still repel moisture, giving a shower-proof finish that also helps to prevent deep staining and soiling. The natural fibres of merino fabric are so fine that skin irritation is not a consideration. Baby Lamb's merino woollen fabric is naturally fire-retardant and is fully machine-washable.
